ALIZE
Best enjoyed with full screen
-----
ALIZE aims to explore various human-AI dynamics, both past, present, and speculative future. It will demonstrate the effects AI can have on humans, including the Eliza Effect, the feeling of the Digital Uncanny Valley, and overall distrust towards artificial intelligence and technology in general, but balance this perspective by offering more symbiotic human-AI relationships inspired by Her, Digital: A Love Story, and Blade Runner 2049. Additionally, it aims to address how humans shape AI, both through original programming and machine-learning through user interaction. From this, the game attempts to pose the question of the future limitations of AI (if any), and how the role of AI in modern society might shift as AI advances. Finally, it asks the player to consider whether machines are extensions of the human body and mind, as hypothesized by Alan Turner, or if humans exist as models and reflections of machines, such as described in Hayle’s idea of a “posthuman world” and exemplified through Zachtronic’s Eliza.
The player will interact with the game primarily through choosing their dialogue from a series of options via mouse-and-click.

INTRO
There is a new type of machine-learning AI called ALIZE. It is adapted from the psychologist-oriented early AI Eliza, but with more machine-learning capabilities. It is currently being displayed and demoed at public libraries and schools as researchers assess the AI’s intelligence.
You will play as human users and the AI itself. How you choose to interact as each will influence the game’s ending.
